Euston and Wistari News

Euston and Wistari have been delving into the arrival of convicts into Australia (The First Fleet) and the impact it has had on the indigenous inhabitants and the habitat. We have watched a range of online videos, sung songs, read stories and discussed many aspects depicting what life was really like back in the 1800’s and seem to have a good grasp of what life was like back then.

In Euston since the start of Semester 2, Mrs Storey has happily noticed that most of the students are more willing to respond to questions asked and are more confident to share their knowledge and / or opinion on any subject being discussed and have had their noses to the grindstone. This was evident during Euston’s News Reader of the year entry.

In Wistari Mrs de has watched her students puff their chests out with confidence in public speaking and exposition to place well in the BSS News Reader of the year competition. If you were lucky enough to watch the grand final you would have seen a great skit written by Mrs Neale and acted out using authentic Victorian slang by Tanya Farrant and the English version by Cara Pace. Our news readers Benjamin Mandall, Chelsea McKenzie and Alice Everingham showed us some of the behind the scene antics that goes on during the news broadcast, which was confirmed by David Perkins.

A big thankyou also has to go to Sensei for helping us to complete our live cross to Japan. All students helped in the making of the final production for our News Reader section and even though we didn’t win the first prize I think they are all winners, for having done such a fantastic job.

As the end of the term is drawing to a close please check your child’s supply of tools for school (pencils, books, rubbers, rulers etc.) Having the tools is a necessary part of your child’s schooling. So from Mrs Storey and Mrs de to the students of Wistari and Euston have fun, stay safe and keep reading over the school holidays.
