Literacy News

Students performing the "Gotta Keep Reading" theme song.
On Thursday, September 1, the school community was entertained by the Grand Final of the Newsreader of the Year competition. Guest judges, Councillor Dave Perkins, Mrs Kim Kleidon from ABC radio and Mr Joel Buchholz, principal of Pioneer High School found it very difficult to decide on a winner from the marvellous entries by Lihou, Malay, Wistari, Canunda, Kiolia, Wattle and Waratah who read the news from the classrooms clearly, shared their art, did skits, sang songs and used multimedia to tell us what has been happening in their learning. In the end, Malay’s entry was judged the best with the group being awarded a trophy. Canunda came a close second and were awarded the chocolate they had used as an outright bribe for the judges. Every student at Beaconsfield School then celebrated National Literacy and Numeracy Week with a song and dance "Gotta Keep Reading" that they have been secretly rehearsing for weeks. Love the way you love to read, Beaconsfield!
